Head/Purple Group Coach
Dion was a competitive swimmer for 14 years. He started swimming with the YMCA in Worthington, MN at the age of 9. Moving to Apple Valley just before his Junior year he swam for Apple Valley High School and the Valley Dolphin Swim Club. After high school he attended St. Cloud State University where he swam all 4 years and recieved his degree in Elementary Education.
Dion started coaching with the Valley Dolphin Swim Club in 1990. He coached there for six (6) seasons. In 1996, the club changed its name to the Dolphin Aquatics Team and is now part of Blackline Aquatics.
In 1993, Dion worked in the St. Cloud area as the Head Coach of the St. Cloud YMCA Swim Club. As the head coach at the YMCA, he coached swimmers to the YMCA National and USA Swimming Junior National Championships. From 1993 to 1996, the St. Cloud YMCA Swim Club placed in the top five for the Class portion of the USA Swimming MN State meets and placed in the top 10 in Class. In August of 1997, he took the Head Swim Coach job with Cathedral High School, where he coached them to the best season record in 5 years.
In November 1998, Dion worked as Head Coach with District 192 Community Education to establish the Farmington Tigersharks Swim Club. In November 1999, the Tigersharks ventured out on their own. Dion has continued his position as Head Coach for the club.
Mr. Erbes also teaches
5th Grade at Riverview Elementary School in
Farmington.
